Flying mining equipment from the Philippines to Laos

A mining equipment manufacturer needed our technical expertise to help fly dangerous goods from the Philippines to their client in Laos. Transporting hazardous cargo requires specialist knowledge and careful planning, so our award-winning cargo team sprung into action to coordinate the complex charter.

Our Solution

Route: Philippines > Laos

Aircraft: Boeing B737-300F

Knowing there was only one local airline that specialised in flying dangerous goods, we got in touch to see whether they could help. They had a Boeing B737-300F available to charter, which had the required payload, range and price point.

The aircraft was based in Clark, so we advised operating the charter from there instead of Manila as originally planned. In addition to being a better-located and less congested airport, this saved the client thousands of dollars in repositioning costs.

Our experienced team liaised with the freight forwarder and airline to gather the relevant paperwork, before applying for permits and exemptions from both countries’ civil aviation authorities to allow us to transport the dangerous goods.

We also worked closely with the loaders to ensure the cargo was painstakingly packed to maximise the space onboard.

The Finer Details

Rapid Response: Having already built a strong relationship with the operator, we knew immediately they could provide a solution for this dangerous goods charter.

Working 24/7: We were in constant communication with all stakeholders in the run-up to the flight, reacting quickly to changes and ensuring permits were received in time.

Flight Representation: Our broker was airside to personally oversee as the cargo was loaded, giving the client peace of mind and ensuring the charter ran smoothly.
