The Dassault Falcon 8X continues Falcon traditions of efficiency, performance, flexibility and comfort while saving millions in total life cycle costs versus any rival. Once again, Dassault stretches the boundaries of what a business jet can deliver.

About this aircraft

  • Introduced at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition in May 2014, the Dassault Falcon 8X is a derivative of the Falcon 7X.
  • It has a longer range than the Falcon 7X due to aerodynamic refinements and an increase in fuel capacity.
  • Its cabin is one of the quietest on the market and offers unrivalled comfort with an exceptionally wide choice of layouts.
  • The Falcon 8X’s long range means it is capable of nonstop flights between Beijing and New York, Singapore and London, or São Paulo and Moscow.

The Dassault Falcon 8X cockpit was intelligently designed to enable both pilots to work better together as a team and, through Dassault’s ‘EASy’ philosophy, is a smart, integrated, feature-packed avionic system. For passengers, the long cabin delivers enhanced comfort. Noise and cabin altitude are low, air quality is high and Wi-Fi and media connectivity is delivered through the latest FalconCabin HD+ cabin management system.

Powered by three rear-mounted turbofan engines, the Falcon 8X flies you wherever you are going faster. The three-engine performance allows takeoffs from shorter runways and also contributes to a slow and stable approach speed. This opens up access to hundreds of airports previously unavailable to aircraft of this size.

Interior design

Dassault offers 30 different configurations for the interior of the Falcon 8X. Design, manufacture and installation of the cabin take place in Little Rock, Arkansas based upon client option selections where 3D technology is utilised throughout the process. Dassault can walk the client through a finished cabin using Virtual Reality and 3D is used in the manufacture and construction elements of the build to optimise quality and efficiency. This meticulous attention to detail delivers a luxurious, high-quality interior befitting such a prestigious aircraft.

To keep passengers relaxed, the Falcon 8X maintains the cabin altitude at a comfortable 3,900 while cruising at 41,000 feet, with a maximum ceiling altitude of 51,000 feet. This means you feel better onboard during the flight and experience less jet lag after arrival. The quiet conditions further enhance the cabin ambience and fingertip control over your immediate environment make any flight a pleasure.

Technological features

Installed in the Dassault Falcon 8X, the EASy II cockpit is a smart, integrated, feature-packed avionic system. By collaborating closely with Honeywell and incorporating it onto their existing Primus Epic hardware platform, the system has been made more intuitive, more interactive and more adaptable to pilots' needs. Dassault has brought a higher level of situational awareness to the cockpit of the business jet.

Dassault’s Cursor Control Device (CCD) is the pilots’ primary means of controlling the EASy flight deck. Everything can be done with Windows-like pull-down and pop-up menus using the trackball controller. With the CCD, pilots control every function faster, more accurately and without diverting eyes from the panel. The result is more head-up time and therefore a safer flight.

For the passengers, connectivity in all phases of flight elevates the passenger experience and level of engagement. Dassault’s latest FalconCabin HD+ cabin management system, installed in the Falcon 8X, is rich in new technology making the whole cabin a Wi-Fi environment.

History

The Dassault Falcon 8X is a development from the Falcon 7X, sporting a cabin that is 1.1 m (3.5 ft) longer than the 7X and improvements to wing design with more moving control surfaces, including three leading-edge slats, three airbrakes and two flaps. The uprated Pratt & Whitney Canada PW307D turbofan engines deliver 5% more thrust, lower fuel consumption and reduce NOx emissions.

Dassault’s latest generation of digital flight control technology, the Digital Flight Control System (DFCS), features three main flight computers that receive control inputs and direct control movement, backed up by three secondary computers and an analogue computer. Integrated on the Falcon 8X in the EASy II cockpit, this configuration ensures an ultra-smooth flying platform with far higher margins of safety than conventional flight controls.

Manufacturer

The history of Dassault Aviation reaches back to the dawn of aviation at the beginning of the 20th century. Fascinated by both aesthetics and innovation from his early childhood, it was Marcel Bloch, later known as Marcel Dassault, who founded the company. Throughout the years from 1945 to 1975, Dassault established itself as one of the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers. Following the oil shock of 1973-74, then the Iranian crisis in 1979, the global economy felt the impact of rising raw material prices. Dassault bolstered its fundamentals by developing exports of civil and military aircraft, against a backdrop of increasingly fierce international competition. Now, Dassault Aviation holds a very special place in today’s global aerospace industry, as the only company still owned by the founding family.

Dassault Aviation designs, produces and provides support for Falcon aircraft. The civil aircraft design offices are located in Saint-Cloud and Bordeaux with final assembly taking place at the Bordeaux-Mérignac site. The Little Rock site (Arkansas, USA), the Group’s largest industrial facility in terms of surface area and workforce, is the aircraft completion centre.
