Leading aircraft charter specialist, Air Charter Service, has been working with a number of airlines whose fleets have either been totally or partially grounded due to COVID-19 and offering them to their charter clients. One particular example is Air Seychelles, with whom ACS worked with throughout last year, effectively expanding their network from four destinations to more than 30.
Lyndee du Toit, CEO of ACS’s African operations, commented: “We have been delighted to help put Air Seychelles’ aircraft to work in 2020, in particular their stunning new Airbus A320 neos. They are a fantastic option for our customers with their high tech infotainment systems and WiFi capability as well as the spacious cabin configuration.
“We have used them for all types of contracts over the past ten months, including repatriations, medical flights, flying religious missionaries and crew changes to name a few. Our global spread of offices means that our European, Middle Eastern and Asian offices have also benefitted from Air Seychelles extra capacity. The airline’s usually limited network has been expanded as far as Northern Europe, Western Africa and Eastern China.
“It would be natural to think that the aircraft were all parked up and the airline staff were enjoying the beaches of the Seychelles this year, but we’ve managed to keep them busy.”
Charles Johnson, Chief Commercial Officer at Air Seychelles, added: “2020 was obviously an unprecedented year in aviation history. With inbound tourists to Seychelles being our largest market, this business disappeared overnight. Instead of parking our aircraft for ten months, we partnered with Air Charter Service to win over new contracts, allowing us to continue to bring in revenue. This additional flying added to our operational crew knowledge base, along with other benefits such as keeping our crew licenses valid by continuing with their flying hours, costing us less time in the simulators down the line.”
Air Charter Service has been working with many airline operators in 2020 who previously had little charter capacity, but have wanted to keep their aircraft flying despite the pandemic.
