Sheremetyevo International Airport is one of four international airports with the Moscow area, and the largest in Russia. The airport is located 35km from central Moscow, and 37km from the football stadium hosting numerous FIFA 2018 matches. Sheremetyevo Airport opened in 1957, originally designated as a military airfield. In 1960 it was converted for civilian use, and today sees more that 34 thousand passengers pass through its terminals annually. There are four terminals located at the airport, with the newest terminal (Terminal A) opening in 2012. The three main terminals are all connected via pedestrian walkways with travellators. The airport is well connected by road and rail, with the Aeroexpress connecting the airport to downtown Moscow.
